Lt.Gen Eyre announces more General Officer and Flag Officer promotions, appointments & Retirements
Acting Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant-General Wayne Eyre, announced the General Officer and Flag Officer promotions, appointments and retirements that have occurred or will occur in 2021.
Regarding the promotions, appointments, and retirements, Eyre stated it is a privilege to announce them.
“I wish to offer my deepest appreciation for the service and sacrifices of our retiring officers and their families, and I offer my congratulations and sincerest best wishes to those taking on new appointments and responsibilities,” he expressed.
Sixteen Canadian Armed Forces personnel have or will retire, while a series of promotions and appointments have resulted from new and continuing service requirements, including: Lieutenant-General (LGen) M.N. Rouleau being appointed to Strategic Advisor to the Chief of the Defence Staff on future capabilities, and LGen F.J. Allen replacing him as Vice Chief of the Defence Staff.

Lieutenant-General (LGen) O.H. Lavoie will retire from service resulting in the following promotions and appointments:

- MGen P.S. Dawe will be appointed Director General International Security Policy in Ottawa, replacing MGen J.J.M.J. Paul.
- Brigadier-General (BGen) J.M.S. Boivin will be promoted MGen and appointed Commander Canadian Special Operations Forces Command in Ottawa, replacing MGen P.S. Dawe.
