Additional Navy Command and Senior Appointments 2023 Announced

Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) VAdm. Angus Topshee and Command Chief Petty Officer of the Royal Canadian Chief Petty Officer 1st Class Thomas Lizotte announced in June additional Navy Command and Senior appointments.

“VAdm Angus Topshee and CPO1 (Chief Petty Officer 1) Lizotte are pleased to announce the following Navy Command and Senior Appointments,” read CANFORGEN 094/23 announcing the appointments.

Additional appointments can be issued in future.

Commanding Officer Appointments

According to the CANFORGEN, the following officer are appointed to Commanding Officer positions:

• Cdr. W. Matheson was appointed CO of Submarine Sea Training Group- APS 2023.
• LCdr. H. Nguyen-Huynh was appointed CO of HMCS Windsor- APS 2023
• LCdr. G. Morris was appointed CO of HMCS Oriole- APS 2023
• LCdr. J. Smith was appointed CO of HMCS Kingston- APS 2023.

Additionally, LCdr. M. Vanderveer was appointed CO of HMCS Nanaimo MT 2022.

Executive Officer Appointments

The following officers were appointed as Executive Officers last year:

• LCdr. H. Han was appointed Executive Officer of HMCS Windsor- MT 2022
• LT(N) A. Beaver was appointed Executive Officer HMCS Shawinigan- MT 2022
• LT (N) J. Claymore was appointed Executive Officer of HMCS Nanaimo- MT 2022
• LT(N) T. Eagle was appointed Executive Officer of HMCS Yellowknife- MT 2022
• LT (N) T. Woodworth was appointed Executive Officer HMCS Cabot- MT 2022.

The following officers are appointed Executive Officers this posting season:

• LT (N) G. Newman was appointed Officer-in-Charge Patrol Vessels (East)- APS 2023
• LT (N) N. Borszczow was appointed Executive Officer of HMCS Summerside- APS 2023
• LT (N) T. Eagle was appointed Executive Officer of HMCS Nanaimo- APS 2023
• LCdr. D. Allen was appointed Executive Officer of HMCS Trinity- APS 2023
• LCdr. S. MacDonald was appointed Executive Officer of HMCS Trinity- APS 2023.

NCM appointments

The following Chief Petty Officers are appointed to Navy Tactical Post Unit Leadership Teams:

• CPO1 S. Clark was appointed as Assistant Judge Advocate General Liaison Atlantic CPO- APS 2023
• CPO1 L. Hebert was appointed as Naval Logistics Combat Service Liaison CPO- APS 2023.

The following are appointed as Ship Coxswain:

• CPO1 I. Biller appointed to HMCS Regina- MT 2023
• CPO1 D. Doyle appointed to HMCS Montreal- APS 2023
• CPO1 C. Landry appointed to HMCS Margaret Brooke- APS 2023
• CPO1 S. Melancon was appointed NRU Asterix- APS 2023
• CPO1 Y. Proulx was appointed to HMCS Toronto- APS 2023
• CPO1 S. Swinimer was appointed to HMCS Halifax- APS 2023
• CPO1 M. Umbach was appointed to HMCS Max Bernays- APS 2023.

The following are appointed as Unit Chief and Coxswain:

• CPO1 R. Williams appointed to Fleet Diving Unit Atlantic- APS 2023
• CPO2 S. Lewis appointed Base Logistics Halifax CPO- APS 2023.
