Glenfinnan Viaduct, Scotland

After one glance at this iconic viaduct, it’s only natural to start humming the Harry Potter theme song. Our #SightSeeingSunday image this week features the Glenfinnan Viaduct in Scotland, the exact viaduct depicted in the Harry Potter movies that brought eager young students to Hogwarts. The stunning autumn foliage only adds to the allure. Built from 1897 to 1901, the viaduct is located at the top of Lock Shiel in the West Scottish Highlands. During the summer, people can enjoy a trip on The Jacobite steam train to take in the fantastic view and picturesque landscape.

Have a glorious Sunday!

Lake Misurina, Italy

The morning sun dances on the majestic Punta Sorapis Mountains of northern Italy in our #SightSeeingSunday image of the week. At the feet of the Mountains is Lake Misurina at Cortina d’Ampezzo, a famous ski resort in the Dolomite region of Italy.

York, England

A cobbled winding street in the city centre of York, England, is front and centre in our #SightSeeingSunday image. Shot at dusk, this historic narrow street lined with preserved medieval buildings has existed since the 14th century. Known as Shambles, the street is one of York’s most famous landmarks and one of the best-preserved medieval shopping streets in Europe. The street is believed to have inspired Diagon Alley from the Harry Potter series movie adaptation. In the late 1800s, the street was known as The Great Flesh Shambles, as it was home to 31 butcher shops. Fleshammels, an Anglo-Saxon word, means flesh shelves, where the butchers displayed their meat. Today, the street features cafés, boutiques, and gift shops.

Have a splendid Sunday!
