More than 800 Canadian soldiers found their final resting place at the Cassino War Cemetery in Italy, depicted here in our favourite photo of the week.

The Cassino War Cemetery is the second-largest Second World War cemetery in Italy.

It has more than 4,200 Commonwealth graves, of which 855 are Canadian. The cemetery also features the Cassino Memorial, unveiled in 1956, which displays the names of 199 Canadians who lost their lives during the Sicilian and Italian campaigns but have no known graves.

More than 75,000 Canadians were involved in the Italian campaign to help liberate the last parts of Italy, including Cassino, from German hands in 1944. Units participating in the liberation included Three Rivers, Calgary, and Ontario regiments.
