A Canadian Naval Officer looks out to the glimmering Pacific Ocean for signs of marine life and vessels in our favourite photo of the week.

Seen here is Chief Petty Officer Second Class Gosbee of His Majesty’s Canadian Ship Max Bernays on the lookout during Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC). Cpl. William Gosse captured the image on June 26 at the entrance of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

This year’s iteration of RIMPAC was the largest ever, with 29 nations providing approximately 25,000 personnel, 14 land forces, 40 ships, three submarines, and over 150 aircraft, according to the CAF.

The Canadian contingent was comprised of 650 personnel, three aircraft, and three ships. The biannual exercise provides participating nations a chance to hone their maritime skills while learning how to work together.
