A Canadian member of the NATO-enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group takes aim in our favourite photo of the week.
The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) member fired a C7A2 automatic rifle during a small arms proficiency range. The image was captured at Camp Ādaži, Latvia on October. 6, 2023.
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Canada has dramatically stepped up its role in NATO’s deterrence efforts in Eastern Europe. This is especially visible in its role as the framework nation of the NATO-enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) Battle Group in Latvia, particularly by amping up ground troops. Participation in this effort falls under the umbrella of Operation REASSURANCE.
