If you welcomed a bundle of joy in 2023, chances are your #babies name might claim a spot in the top 10 most popular baby names in Canada.
According to BabyCenter, the most popular Canadian boy names of 2023 are once again Noah and Liam. While the top three spots for girls are claimed by Olivia, Amelia and Emma.

Although the top spots for both girls and boys remained the same for yet another year in a row, the top 10 overall did see some significant changes.
The top 10 boys names welcomed three new names this last year: William, Benjamin, and Levi.
The girls also welcomed two new names: Ellie and Mila.

Alberta
When it comes to the top baby names in Alberta, this province follows suit with the rest of the overall Canadian baby names. Coming in at number one for boys is Noah, followed by Liam. For girls, the top spot is Olivia, followed by Amelia for the second spot.
The top 10 boys’ and girls’ names differ in other ways as well from the country-wide list. Alberta has two completely different names on its top ten girls list: Isla and Violet. While the boy’s names also have two different names: James and Theodore.

British Columbia
Parents in British Columbia were similar to parents across the country regarding favourite baby names. Noah and Olivia claimed the top spots in this province as well. The top 10 name list overall for British Columbia follows the nationwide top 10, with one small variation in the girls’ list: the name Hazel makes an appearance on this list.

New Brunswick
New Brunswick welcomed close to 5,000 babies in 2023. And what was the most popular name? If you guessed Noah, Liam and Olivia, you’re correct.
Following the nationwide status quo, Olivia claimed New Brunswick’s top baby name spots for girls. However, it was Liam for boys.
Liam was followed by Theodore, while Olivia was followed by Emma. According to the province, other popular baby names include:

Nova Scotia
Following its patterns from previous years, Nova Scotians chose Henry as their most popular baby name of 2023. According to Nova Scotia’s Registry of Vital Statistics, Nova Scotia was home to nearly 6,000 new babies in 2023.
The most popular girl’s name was Olivia.

Ontario

According to a press release from the province of Ontario, Olivia has held the top spot in Ontario for 14 years in a row. Noah is in the top spot for the fourth year in a row.

According to a CBC article, Jack is the most popular baby name in 2023, varying greatly from the rest of the country.
However, several names changed from last year, with names like Amelia, Evelyn, Abigail, Elijah, James, Grayson, Benjamin, Summer, and Henry not making the list.

Saskatchewan’s parents shook things up for the province when it came to the most popular baby girl name. Olivia claimed the top spot on the list for 2023. However, 2022’s favourite, Amelia, dropped out of the top ten.
The most favourite name for baby boys in Saskatchewan was Oliver.
