Two motorcycles up for grabs at first Soldier On Charity Motorcycle Ride and Classic Car Rally
To raise funds for worthwhile causes that support ill and injured soldiers, Soldier On will be hosting its first Charity Motorcycle Ride and Classic Car Rally this September.
The event is a Saturday doubleheader with the Warrior Games Poker Run taking place on Saturday, Sept. 21 and the Invictus Games Poker Run on Saturday, Sept. 28.
“Our goal is to make this particular charity ride for veterans a highlight on everyone’s fall calendar, Legions, riders and classic car enthusiasts alike,” said Maj. (ret’d) Cory Moore, director, Gallant Knights Charity Sports Association.
There will be 18 Ontario-wide regional routes, with a different route depending on the day. The first prize winner will receive a 2019 Triumph Speedmaster while the second prize winner will receive a 2019 Harley Davidson Street 750.
Attendees can also enter to draw for two motorcycles or win the early bride prize of a $2,500 Harley Davidson Cash Card. The card can be used at any Harley Davidson Dealer in Canada for a downpayment on a bike or parts, servicing or clothing.
The Ride is being presented by the Gallant Knights Charity Sports Association, a charity comprised of members of the Canadian Armed Forces, military spouses, and members of the veteran rider community. Their overarching goal is to “Support through Sport.”
“The Gallant Knights Fundraising under the leadership of Cory Moore are a perfect example of the grassroots support that truly fuels Soldier On. Their desire to organize the 2019 Soldier On Charity Motorcycle Ride and Classic Car Rally and fundraise for another member to start their journey speaks to the wonderful Soldier On community. There is a true desire amongst members to pay it forward and help the next person start their recovery and rehabilitation,” said Madison MacDonald, annual giving manager for Support Our Troops.
One hundred per cent of the profits raised will be used to support Soldier On programs and to cover the costs of Team Canada’s participation in events such as the Warrior Games and Invictus Games. The goal of the Motorcycle Ride and Classic Car Rally is to help with the purchasing of adapting sports training equipment for these games.
“Whether you ride or not, whether you love vintage cars. Canadians love their veterans. Registration is $50, which goes to supporting veterans adapting to their new reality. Providing support through sport, is the what Soldier On is all about,” said Kathy Luten, board member of Gallant Knights Charity Sports Association.
Registration for the 2019 Charity Motorcycle Ride and Classic Car Rally is $50. The registration includes entry ballot to win prizes, a poker card for both days, a 2019 Poker Run and Ride pin and a ride patch. Passenger tickets are $30.
