Miranda BrumwellThe Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team, the SkyHawks, officially launch the 2018 performance season at the Victoria Day SpeedFest at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park located in Bowmanville, Ont., on May 20, 2018.
The SkyHawks is Canada’s only military parachute demonstration team and made up of Regular and Reserve Force members from across the country. Between May and September, the team plans to perform at air shows, sporting events and festivals across Canada.
“My fellow SkyHawks and I are immensely excited to perform and meet with spectators from coast to coast this summer. Our team members come from a wide variety of military trades and backgrounds but are united in purpose – to put on a great show for enthusiastic audiences,” said Captain John Hart, SkyHawks Team Captain, in a press release issued May 16.
The SkyHawks team was created in 1971 and over the past 47 years, team members have performed at more than 5,000 venues across Canada and the world, interacting with millions of spectators.
For nearly 20 years, the SkyHawks have been based out of Trenton, Ont., where they are an extension of the Canadian Army Advanced Warfare Centre.
