Festival Hall to host Christmas shows November 24th – December 15th

Families in the Ottawa Valley can treat themselves to an array of Christmas shows this holiday season at the Festival Hall’s first-ever Christmas show lineup of this size.

According to Festival Hall Centre for the Performing Arts director, Rick Wharton, although the theatre puts on Christmas events every year, they’ve never had a lineup of shows quite so large as this year.

“It’s been really well received. I think people are really impressed about the different types of entertainment coming in but also with the selection and the different age groups. So, people can come and bring the family and go out on date nights. We’re very lucky with the stuff we have in the Christmas time this year,” said Wharton.

The theatre’s Christmas shows begin Nov. 24 and run until Dec. 15. Shows include a performance of A Christmas Carol by Streetlight Theatre; a performance by the Juno-award winning trio: the Ennis Sisters, who will be performing a number of original and traditional Christmas songs; a performance of The Nutcracker by the Pembroke Symphony Orchestra; a performance of The Nutcracker by Stye’s Dance Studio and a nativity performance to raise money for charity.

This year’s Christmas lineup also includes a performance by world-renowned tenor and avid military supporter John McDermott. McDermott’s a Family Christmas, is back in the Ottawa Valley by popular demand and includes holiday songs, humour, and tasteful remembrance tributes.

“There’s a little something for everyone in that selection of shows,” noted Wharton.

Wharton encourages members of his community to come out for a performance and support their local theatre. Thanks to support from the local community Festival Hall has gone from offering a few select shows to a number of shows attending by close to 20,000 people each year. Shows are of a ranging variety from dance, to comedy to music.

“Live theatre and performance, there’s nothing better,” said Wharton.
