Trupanion, a pet medical insurance company that serves the United States, Canada and Australia, recently released its top ten dog names for 2022. “Surveying its database of more than 800,000 insured pets, Trupanion has compiled a tail-wagger of a top 10 list,” stated a press release from the company.
Top names of 2022
Luna leads the pack as the most popular name for 2022, moving up one spot from last year. New names to the list this year, according to Trupanion, are Milo and Teddy.

- Charlie
- Bella
- Daisy
- Milo
- Lucy
- Cooper
- Bailey
- Teddy
- Max
Top breeds
Trupanion also released the top most popular breeds for 2022.
“Of course, when it comes to top breeds, the lovable mixed breed always tops the charts. After that, the Labrador Retriever leads the pack for the most popular breed in 2022, a lead they have enjoyed for decades,” stated the news release.
The top ten breeds for 2022 are:

- Goldendoodle
- Golden Retriever
- French Bulldog
- Labradoodle
- German Shepherd
- Shih Tzu
- Chihuahua
- Yorkshire Terrier
- Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
