PetroCanada Suspends Program for CAF Personnel
The Canadian Forces Appreciation PetroCanada Fuel Savings Program for members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) has been suspended.
According to a Petro-Canada Customer Service Representative, Faith Czareene, this is due to an ongoing review of opportunities to digitize the program.
“As we have made changes to our technology platform, we are currently unable to continue with the program using the current card-based system,” she wrote.
The last savings top-up was applied to existing cards on Aug. 3, 2021.
New enrolments for the Preferred Price card aren’t being accepted.
Any existing program participants with an unexpired Preferred Price card that has an unused fuel balance after this date can continue to use the card for a maximum of three cents per litre on a total of 100 litres of fuel at participating PetroCanada retail locations.
Unused fuel savings do not accumulate, and the card will not be reloaded.
“We thank CAF members for their patience and understanding as we continue our review of this program,” the Petro-Canada website states.
In 2022, there will be announcements regarding the program’s future on PetroCanada’s terms and conditions page here and the Canadian Forces Appreciation website here.
About the Program
The program was the first of its kind exclusive to the military community. Before the program was launched nationwide, a pilot program was held in Kingston to determine interest. With a Preferred Price Card, CAF community members could save three cents per 100 litres every month. They were also eligible for the Petro-Points card, and when they applied, they would automatically get 10,000 points.
Both cards could be used at any pump across Canada and North Atlantic Petroleum locations in Newfoundland and Labrador.
