CANEX donates $100,000 to Military Family Services’ Volunteers’ Recognition Program (VOREP)
Volunteers are the backbone of Canadian communities and the military community is no exception.
To recognize the selfless contributions of volunteers within the military community, CANEX once again made its annual $100,000 contribution to the Military Family Services’ Volunteers’ Recognition Program (VOREP) during this year’s National Volunteer Week.
The funding provided by CANEX to Military Family Services is used to support local Military Family Resource Centres’ (MFRCs) and Personnel Support Programs’ (PSP) volunteer recognition events and activities.
“This funding not only recognizes adult and youth volunteers for the important work they do in their local community but also provides an opportunity for local MFRCs, PSPs and CANEX Managers to work together to foster a collaborative partnership,” said Larry Mohr
Senior VP Commercial Services, CFMWS.
Thanks to VOREP, MFRCs and PSP can celebrate the more than 3,000 volunteers who provide their expertise and services to deliver programs, from painting to language training to first aid, to military families.
In 2016, there were more than 3,300 volunteers recognized at more than 55 events.
“Volunteers are the backbone of the Canadian Armed Forces community development model that all MFRCs adhere to. MFRCs strive to recognize the hard work and dedication of their community volunteers in unique ways,” noted Mohr.
VOREP originated with SISIP Financial in 2003 but CANEX took over the annual contribution in 2015.
