The Canadian Franchising Association launches CFA Military Veterans Program
The Canadian Franchising Association (CFA), in partnership with the Department of National Defence, recently launched the CFA Military Veterans Program. The CFA is offering a free informative session to help veterans understand franchise ownership and the Military Veterans program on Sunday, April 17 in Ottawa.
The CFA Military Veterans Program is designed to help veterans who are transitioning into the civilian world and want to work in or own a franchise.
“Success in the military is often achieved through the same qualities that translate to success in franchising – discipline, leadership, commitment, and an ability to work with a standard operating procedure. Franchising can provide meaningful career opportunities for veterans and enable veterans to go into business for themselves but not by themselves,” states the CFA website.
To spread the word about the program, the free, three-hour session will include presentations from franchisors, a veteran turned franchisee, a quick lesson on“franchising 101” and networking with franchisors in CFA’s Military Veteran Program.
For a fee of $25 attendees can take part in the remainder of the day which includes a keynote presentation by Frank O’Dea founder of The Second Cup followed by a Marketplace Opening Reception.
Participating franchises in the CFA Military Veterans Program offer veterans special incentives and opportunities. Veterans have access to premier franchise ownership opportunities, access to employment opportunities and the resources to help prepare.
Some of the participating franchise members include Tim Hortons, Trade Secrets, Quiznos, Pita Pit and Two Men and a Truck.
“It [owning a franchise] allows franchisees to go into business for themselves with the support, brand power, and proven business concept of the franchisor. If a franchisee works and follows the system, it can reduce their risk of business failure and increase the likelihood of success,” states the CFA Military Veterans Program brochure.
With 600 corporate members across the country, the CFA is known to be the leading organization and authority on franchising in Canada. The organization advocates on behalf of franchisors and franchisees to enhance and protect the franchise business model.
The information session will be held Sunday, April 17 starting at 1:30 at the Westin Ottawa.
