Canadian flags greet sailors of His Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Ottawa upon arriving at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in our favourite photo of the week.
The Halifax-class frigate embarked on its mission to the Indo-Pacific last year in August 2023. The deployment spanned almost five months, and as the ship headed home, it sailed in to Pearl Harbor for a port visit on Dec. 8, 2023.
Early last year, the Canadian government released a new Indo-Pacific Strategy calling for an increased naval presence in the region.
Operation HORIZON is Canada’s forward-presence mission to the region in an effort to promote peace, stability, and the rules-based international order.
