Royal Canadian Air Force Run raises over $167,000

With its first run since 2019, the Royal Canadian Air Force welcomed more than 900 participants and raised $167,000 for the Royal Canadian Air Force Centennial Fund.

This year, the RCAF Run, a signature event for the RCAF, took place in a virtual format from May 28 – June 19.

The 2022 RCAF Run

This year’s virtual format allowed for 938 participants to take place from around the world. The RCAF welcomes participants of all abilities and fitness levels to “achieve your goals at your own pace.”

The run featured a 3K, 5K, 10K, and half marathon.

“The RCAF Run is a proud component of the Royal Canadian Air Force. With this year’s virtual element, it has never been easier to take part,” said Col Maggie Jacula, Race Director.

About the Centennial Fund

The RCAF Centennial Fund was the recipient of this year’s RCAF Run collections.

On April 1, 2024, the RCAF will mark its 100-year anniversary. In order to celebrate this momentous milestone, the RCAF is planning for various events, including the “National RCAF Run, to honour and celebrate our history and heritage, bring recognition to current serving RCAF personnel, and inspire future generations of Canadians to take ownership of their Air Force,” according to the RCAF Run website.

Another important way the RCAF is celebrating this milestone is through the RCAF Centennial Fund, which will support RCAF families and INSPIRE Canada’s next generation of aviators. INSPIRE will support Canadian youth pursuing careers in aviation, space, and STEM.

“The 2022 RCAF Run was a success. Thank you to everyone who participated and donated to the RCAF Centennial Fund! With the help of our participants from around the world, we were able to raise $167K to support the Air Force community and INSPIRE Canada’s next generation of aviators,” added Jacula.
