Snap and submit photo for National Nature Photography Day
This Saturday is National Nature Photography Day, and what better way to celebrate than by a hike, cycle or swim in one of Canada’s many beautiful parks, beaches, or lakes? And when you capture that amazing scenery in a photo, you may want to consider participating in the 2019 Nature Photo Contest.
“The Nature Photo Contest is a celebration of the plants, animals, landscapes, and moments in nature that bring us joy and happiness. We hope the contest encourages more Canadians to get outdoors and connect with nature throughout the summer,” stated Nature Canada.
Nature Canada’s 6th annual Nature Photo Contest started this past May, and you will be able to submit your photos until August 11, 2019. While there will be two early bird draws, one on June 30 and the other on August 6, public voting will begin in mid-September and continue until October 6, 2019.
“Nature Canada’s annual photo contest is a celebration of the plants, animals, landscapes and moments in nature that bring us joy and happiness,” said Jodi Joy, director of communications for Nature Canada. “We hope the contest encourages more Canadians to get outdoors and connect with nature throughout the summer. We welcome submissions in five categories: Canadian landscape, people in nature, parks and protected areas, nature in action and fauna and flora. Every year we get incredible submissions from across the country that remind us why nature is worth defending.”
The grand prize is a gift certificate for one space on any of Black Feather’s four day French River Canoe Trips for the 2020 season, with a value of $1,000.
You can share your photos with Nature Canada through their website, Facebook, and Twitter using the hashtag #NaturePhotoContest. You can also send photos by either email or regular mail. The photo needs to be 3,600 pixels wide by 2,700 pixels high (12″ x9″) at 300 dpi.
“Whether you choose to go for a hike, take a ride in a canoe, or simply enjoy discovering what’s hiding in your own backyard; there is so much to see and do in this naturally diverse country we call home,” stated Joy.
