Statement from the family of Private Kirby Tott

OTTAWA – The family of Private Kirby Tott issued the following statement today:

“It is with great sadness that we have received the news of the passing of our son and brother, Kirby Tott.  Kirby was loved by his family and friends alike – he always brought a smile to our faces and our hearts.

“He enrolled in the military because of his natural need to help others – after completing his time in the army he intended to apply for the RCMP.  He greatly enjoyed the camaraderie of The Rocky Mountain Rangers and was very proud of his training – he felt it was a privilege to serve his country.

“Kirby will be remembered not only as service member, but also as a young man with a full life that he shared with his many friends and loved ones.  He had a passion for sports and a famously infectious sense of humour which he brought to every situation.

“Our family would like to recognize and thank the community for their generous outpouring of sympathy since we received the news of his tragic passing – we have felt very loved and supported during this trying time.”
