Mental Health First Aid Course designed for Veterans has 10 spaces available

In partnership with Veterans Affairs Canada and BroadMind, a social enterprise that focuses on community mental health, SerViCe & SacriFice will be offering a Mental Health First Aid Course from Dec. 2-3.

The course will be taught by Sherry Lachine, owner of Broadmind. Participants will walk away certified in Mental Health First Aid.

Mental Health First Aid is defined as “the help provided to members of the Veteran community who are developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.”

The course is tailored to address the needs of CAF Veterans and those who care for them. It will not, however, train attendees to become counsellors or therapists.

Veterans Affairs Canada has generously agreed to sponsor the course with no cost to members of the veteran community. Currently, there are 10 spaces available.

The Mental Health First Aid Course will also be held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Ajax, ON on Dec. 2 and Dec. 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

To register for the Mental Health First Aid Course, please contact Sherry Lachine at 613-484-2977 or [email protected].
