12th annual Yellow Ribbon Gala & Silent Auction

The Edmonton MFRC is hosting its 12th annual Yellow Ribbon Gala on Saturday, April 16. The MFRC hopes to raise $20,000 in an effort to enhance services the Centre provides to its military families.

“This Gala contributes to enhancing community awareness of our Canadian Armed Forces, their families and of the sacrifices our local military members and their families make for our country,” said Angela Duckworth, Senior Communications Coordinator at the Edmonton MFRC.

The gala will start with a cocktail hour. Guests can look forward to a beef dinner, entertainment from the Loyal Edmonton Regiment Black Light Drum Line and a silent auction.

This year’s auction items include a fishing adventure in Prince Rupert, BC from July 28 to 31. The trip includes roundtrip airfare for two, one day of fishing with Fundy Fishing Charters, two days of fishing with Northern Adventure Fishing Charters. Accommodations included.

Other items include a roundtrip train ride for two from Edmonton to Jasper with Via Rail, a handmade bronze from Ballantynes of Walkerburn of a CAF member in Afghanistan, a home security system installation for one year, and many more items.

A highlight of this year’s event is the keynote address by General Jonathan Vance, Chief of Defence Staff. Vance will be speaking about the importance of the MFRC programming.

Funds raised from the Gala will be used in key areas of MFRC programming: mental health and wellness, child and youth development, parenting support, community development and integration and deployment support.

The Yellow Ribbon Gala will be held at the Edmonton Officers’ Mess. Cocktail hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. dinner will begin at 7 p.m.
